I downloaded Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World off the PSN Network. I really dug the comics and look forward to the movie. The game is incredibly well made and I'm loving it so far. I wish the multiplayer could be online and the lives system is wonky but everything else is great.
Also, I've been indulging in Plants Vs. Zombies, if every casual game was as well made as PVZ, we would never get any work done, ever. _________________ Wry Hullo Thar- A blog for people who like things. http://wryhullothar.blogspot.com/ |

I'm still playing - (alternating between)- the Star Wars Battlefront games and Left 4 Dead 1 and L4D 2.
If the price will come down on used copies, I am seriously considering getting a copy of (I hope I get the title right) - Batman: Arkham Asylum. That looks like it might be fun, and most of the reviews have been really good.
I'm also toying with the idea of getting a used (cheap) copy of BioShock 1. (I know that game has been out for a long while, but I don't have much money. I can't buy as many games as often as I could several years ago.) _________________ Die Zombie Die!

At Game Stop Arkham Asylum dropped in the used price to about $30 and I believe Bioshock is down to $20. Both are really great games. I found I got some more replay out of Bioshock over Arkham Asylum, but I think AA was more fun for the first play through (but once you find all those Riddler trophies it looses steam). |

Blazblue: Continuum Shift.
Besides being a survival horror fan, I'm also a fighting game fanatic a bit. I play Blazblue and KOF as well as other fighters. Not so big on SF anymore. |

I'm finishing up Monkey Island 2: Special Edition, Bayonetta, Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption, Penumbra's, and God of War III hopefully before school starts up again. Also, trying to get almost all the stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2, but not with Luigi. _________________ Wry Hullo Thar- A blog for people who like things. http://wryhullothar.blogspot.com/ |

Bayonetta, this game has just the right amount of awesome and ridiculousness.
Anymore or any less of either would have resulted in failure, really enjoying it. _________________ You are the music while it lasts. |

The legendary Final Fantasy VII. This is the first time I'm playing it and when I started I had lots of suspicions. For years I've heard people raving about how VII is the best game ever and no other Final Fantasy is as good as it.
Well, so far I've been enjoying it a lot! One day I even woke up earlier so I could play, I haven't done that for years. I'm still on the first disc and Vincent has just joined our party.
But I don't understand what's so special about Aeris? I find her quite annoying. So much buzz about a girl how dies on the first disc. I guess I would find it more dramatic if I hadn't heard about it for years and it would come as a surprise. _________________

Yeah, I finally played it the whole way through this year and I enjoyed the game pretty well. My biggest problems with it have to deal with the writing and localization. Some of the writing is good and then well, its shit. Its like a good writer left the room and the janitor filled in. The game has some massive plot holes and on top of that we get some hilariously awful dialogue(due to localization? My guess).
On Aeris death though, I had heard about it too and the scene didn't get to me either. I think the problem is that they kill Aeris off too quickly. If it would have happened at the end of disc 2 it might have worked. I thought her character was underdeveloped and I didn't have too many reasons to really care why she died. Its horrible but to its full effect.
It is still a great game and I know why it was a hard act to follow for most people. For one, the game has an incredible opening(big, blade runner-like metropolis, exciting missions, instantly involving). FF7 starts with a bang, unlike 8, which takes its time to really get most gamers involved with the characters & story.
FF8 was my second final fantasy(FF3 for the SNES was my first), and I adored it. I do hold a bit of nostalgia for it but it still is my favorite final fantasy on the newer generation consoles. Its a shame about the latest games becuase I think they've all lost that special touch that in the story and characters, which for an rpg is near flesh n' blood. _________________ Wry Hullo Thar- A blog for people who like things. http://wryhullothar.blogspot.com/ |

Yeah my mates keep telling me to play it, and with a PS3 I can technically download it whenever I want, but because it's so hyped and called 'best game eva!!!!!' I'm in no hurry to play it. I'm one of those gamers drawn to unknown, hated or mixed response titles rather than the loved.

I obviously can't say on the emotional impact of Aeris' death scene but one friend of mine said because the whole shock of killing a 'main character' so early in the game it's considered so powerful. Now it's not so unique because everyone knows about it and it's not a plot device used in today's game, but really it wasn't so unique when VII was released considering that Phantasy Star II did it before it...
But back on topic - I'm still playing Star Ocean The Last Hope (having much more fun with it then I did with Final Fantasy XIII) but I'm also playing Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing on and off, good fun as well! _________________ My Livejournal - reviews and life updates from a London video game and anime fan! |
