You might not know that there's another horror game taking place in a haunted mansion (if we can call the Barrows mansion haunted) for the PC Engine called "Demon of Laplace." There are no pictures or videos of the title that I can find, but it's worth noting.

I search for it on google. This are some screens of the game. I 've never heard about it before...
The Game can be downloaded on emuparadise. It's abandonware so it's freeware |

Abandonware != freeware. Just because company goes under doesn't mean that the rights aren't owned elsewhere.
That said, I played this a bit a while back. It's a horror RPG, and a pretty hard one. Reminds me of Sweet Home. One of the cool things is that you can select your party like a regular RPG, but they are all investigators and paranormal experts and mystics and stuff like that.
I should probably try playing it again. |

Yeah, I hear this game is tough! Poor Human Entertainment.
Edit: I totally went off on to a different tangent here.
I'd wish Capcom would do something with the Clock Tower series again since they own the rights. Clock Tower 3 was alright but there is so much potential with the series. A Clock Tower DS remake would be lovely, but already I might be asking too much with another Clock Tower installment. I guess we have the movie to look forward to?? _________________ Wry Hullo Thar- A blog for people who like things. http://wryhullothar.blogspot.com/

Hi. I opened a thread on this game some time ago.
Laplace no Ma (aka laplace's demon) was a RPG born on the PC-88 (a japanese only computer produced by NEC) and then ported to a lot of systems: PC-98, SNES, PC-Engine, Sharp X68000 (another jap only pc).
All of the ports excepted the PC-98 one are somewhat different from the original PC-88 version. The Sharp X68000 improves the graphics of the game, the PC-Engine one improves the graphics + expand the storyline (which was pretty basic) and the SNES one is nearly a totally different game, both in storyline and in gameplay. Also the SNES version is in third person view and not in first person like the original and the other ports.
There is a naerly complete tranlation patch for the SNES version made by the Aeon Genesis group.
Laplace no Ma also is the first chapter of a RPG serie called the ghost hunter serie. The games that belongs to the serie are:
-Laplace no Ma
-Paracelsus no Maken (released ony for the PC98 i think)
-Kurokishi no Kamen (released only for the 3DO) _________________ Call me Snake... |

Agreed. Or re-release the game on the Virtual Console!
On topic, this game looks interesting...I liked Koudelka, which was an RPG with horror elements so this perks my interests. _________________ My Livejournal - reviews and life updates from a London video game and anime fan! |
