Hi, I'm Dark Gaia and I've been inactive for a few months because my internet connection was down. (You might remember I was making a survival horror game? It's coming along fine.)
Umm... I'm playing through fatal Frame (known here as Project Zero) and I need help. I'm on the 3rd Night (Calamity) and I'm up to where you face off against the Himuro Master (ghost with katana) in the Buhdda Room. (It is the first time he's encountered in the game)
When he comes to attack me, the room becomes sealed, so I have to defeat him, plus I need the key item in the room.
He attacks after I get the Rope and tie it to the statues in the order of right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg.
Anyway, the problem is, that although i had Type 37 and Type 74 films, I'm now out and have only Type 14 films left!
Is it still possible to beat him? Or will I need to start again? He moves to fast to hit him with Shutter Chances and Type 14's only deal 10 damage to him.
Where can I get more films from? Help me here, as I don't want to start again...
BTW, I'm really enjoying it. It's atmospheric and one of the most scariest game sI've played. I've also got Fatal Frame 3, but I'm waiting to complete this first. |

Himuro is the HARDEST enemy of the game, hands down - way way way worst than Kyrie.
Without Type-74 or at least Type-37 films you're in big trouble. I'd suggest to reload a previous save.
Anyway, Himuro has a formidable range thanks to the katana, and is very difficult to aim because he keeps on teleporting from side to side.
Before any attack he will draw back his sword. Don't wait for Zero Shots! He is too fast, just shoot him. If he's going to attack, instantly take a shot to stun him for a brief second and then run away. When he swings the sword, he takes a big step forward and reaches as far as he can, so if you don't run you'll be hit.
Flee to a far corner, then turn and aim. Charge up as much as you can before he gets too close, then take your shot. While he is stunned, run straight through him and make a beeline for the opposite corner, then turn and repeat.
Sometimes he will use his sword in a two/three-swing combo, so when you're running from him make sure he's finished attacking before you stop and draw your camera. If Himuro starts laughing, it means that he's sending the floating heads out to chase you and stun you, so he can get in a good blow with his sword. Try to get a Core Shot when he stops to laugh; if you succeed you can spoil the attack.
At any rate, you'll have to be a wonderful dodger to succeed in this battle with Type-14 only. Himuro has very high stamina, so you'll need 12-15 fully charged shots before the battle is over!
"See" ability would help you to see Himuro more easily whenever he pursues you. _________________ "I will show you the fear in a handful of dust." |

I had a look around the mansion before going right to the Buhdda Room. I found some Type 37, and Type 74 Films hidden around, plus a Stone Mirror and a Sacred Water, but it seems everywhere I go, a Wandering Monk appears.
So I killed him. And now I'm stuck in the same night, in the Fishtank Room. When I go in, a Wandering Monk appears near the Type 37 films on the floor, and a Long haired Woman also appears, and she seals off the exits, so NOW I AM ATTACXKED BY TWO GHOSTS! Any tips?
By the way, I have killed 3 of the 4 Headless Priests. How close to the end of the night am I? |

The Wandering Monk is a random ghost. There are no sctipted battles against him in Story Mode. He appears only if you wander too much around the house during the third night.
I never fought him in Story Mode because he is VERY tricky. He absolutely loves to dodge out of your viewfinder and hide in walls. Don't count on being able to get a Zero Shot on him (or even a fully charged shot, for that matter). And it takes several shots to defeat him. If you see him, your best bet is usually to run away.
The Long Haired Woman is another story. The battle in the Fish Tank Room is scripted.
Before fighting her, I'd suggest you to wander and wait in another room, way far from the Fish Tank Room. Wait for the Monk to appear, then run away and reach the FTR. Wandering Monk is pretty "lovely" though. He may keep chasing after you even after you have come to another room, but this is not always. He often lets you go. But if he does chase you, you try to run to some more other rooms until he stops.
After you've defeated the Long Haired Woman and the 4th Headless Priest, you have to fight Himuro Master AGAIN ( ). Then the night overs. _________________ "I will show you the fear in a handful of dust." |

| Yeah, avoid the monk whatever the costs. To find more film, go to places that you are not told to go. That little chapel in the woods tends to have lots of items there on every night. I beat the game and had a ton of film left. I explored every room on every night regardless of whether or not I had to go there. |

Sorry for resurrecting an old topic but the EXACT SAME THING happened to me when I played it just before Christmas. I tried everything to get rid of that Wandering Monk - restarting the game, wandering to places I wasn't suppose to go to so he'd appear there instead - but he still showed up.
If you're still stuck here (doubtful) the only advice I can give is to use your strongest film and try to take the shot when both the ghosts are within your 'capture circle'. Unfortunetly, even if you beat the Long Haired Woman the door still won't unlock (I think the game gets confused) so you will need to beat both of them. It took me a good 6-10 goes before I barely got out of their with my life. _________________ My Livejournal - reviews and life updates from a London video game and anime fan! |

| This is why I hated this game ultimately. Too much screwing around just trying to reach the next position without wrecking your game... endless replays and reloads, boss fights that take 6 attempts etc, and sometimes having to replay from a way earlier save because you screwed up your current one without realising it. It was just a total drag. |

I honestly never ran into problems like the ones you guys describe. I remember seeing the wandering Monk once, I freaked and ran for the hills.... But my game never fudged up like that. It was a pretty swift playthrough and my only playthrough. _________________ Wry Hullo Thar- A blog for people who like things. http://wryhullothar.blogspot.com/ |

To be fair, the original posters problem was the only glitch that I encountered. But it doesn't seem to be a common one as not many people here or on gamefaqs have mentioned it.
Yes the fights can be difficult but I saw it as a challenge rather than broken gameplay. It like many other survival horrors where you have to be careful with health and ammo (or in this game's case, film!)
Overalll I enjoyed Project Zero 1 and plan to play it's sequels in the near future. _________________ My Livejournal - reviews and life updates from a London video game and anime fan! |

| Those difficulties kind of made Fatal Frame my favorite survival horror series. With the atmosphere and pacing it always sunk me into it and I get totally engrossed. Usually when I play if there's a part where I die, I stop playing and pick it up again after a few months from the start because I'm so into playing as the character and can't continue if she dies. I find it very rare to play a game that sucks me in so much that I sort of role play while actually playing the game. |

| Not only have they thought of making it for the Wii, it's already been made and has been out for a few years. Extra sad news, they're not releasing it outside of Japan! But there's a silver lining, there's a fan translation patch online. |
