Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't you include some games?See my omissions page. Why don't you include PC games?See my about page.I disagree about your database choices. Where can I voice my disapproval? The forums is the place. How does your rating system work?As I described briefly on the about page, I list two different scores for games on my site: "world score" and "chris' score." World Score is a score from the outside world, usually from metacritic.com or some place similar. It is intended to represent the average rating that the game received from the gaming press at the time that it was released. Chris' score is my personal rating for the game.Scores for games are displayed on a 4 star scale. I am not a big fan of percentage rankings; for some reason 70% seems to be the median value amongst game journalists, and any score below 50% is fairly meaningless. So instead I've come up with the following rating system:
This system roughly maps to the 60% - 100% range on normal gaming sites, but I must make it clear that the mapping is non-linear and irregular. That means that some bands of the review spectrum are wider than others. For example, rather than having half of the scale mean "do not buy this game," I've simply made a single category ("Terrible") that describes that rating. If you are interested in how scoring for video games is all messed up, check out this feature I wrote about the subject. What is your message moderation policy?I am absolutely against censorship, and I will not erase messages on the basis of profanity alone. However, I will erase messages that have no constructive value. The boards are intended for discussion and opinion, but I won't tolerate messages along the lines of "user x sucks!" or "damn I beat this game!" If someone posts an opinion about a game that you do not agree with, please respond in a clear manner. Simply calling them names is a useless practice, and is a good way to get your message erased. Anyone making racist, sexist, or otherwise bigoted comments will be permanently banned. If you want to get into a fight, use the forums and contain it to its own thread. Don't waste the rest of the world's time with flames. I will also erase messages that
I also filter all posts in order to ensure some basic grammatical sanity. If you don't like it, post in the forums.
